HADDO ARTS FESTIVAL
Established in 2012, the Haddo Arts Festival takes place annually in the grounds of Haddo House, Aberdeenshire. Primarily focussing on music, the Festival programme includes theatre, visual art, literature and conversation. As well as bringing outstanding national and international performers to the North East audience, the Festival is a showcase for the work of local artists and performers.
Alongside a strong education programme, the Festival is committed to the support of emerging professional artists from the North East and across Scotland.
Miss Throgmorton performed 'Myrtle Throgmorton, Game Bird' at the 2015 festival and took to the stage again in 2016, delighting audiences with 'Myrtle Throgmorton Takes The Biscuit'

Myrtle Throgmorton, Game BirdHaddo Arts Festival 2015Myrtle Throgmorton can never really say she has ever been anyone’s bird. She has capered at the odd Ceilidh, so perhaps a Capercaillie, and is now sometimes a Grouse or a Snipe, but never a Shag - or a Cormorant - but she is very keen on parlour games. And the Haddo House Hall was packed to the rafters with a cheery audience, willing to play along.
Myrtle was thrilled to be supported once again by Gordon Raeburn and Sam Williams, following Myrtle Throgmorton, Ancient Heckler at the Edinburgh Fringe. Gordon had some real space to explore at Haddo but was still not doing ‘proper dancing’. He also played a mean harmonica and piped in the second half in fine tradition. Sam’s composition, Work in Progress, sounded even better on the Haddo Steinway. Myrtle roped in some other members of the Swiss Family Williams; Katherine bravely duetted with her in place of Midriff Bulge, who couldn’t make the trip North, with Roger accompanying them. And the brilliant young fiddler, George Davidson of Tarves, Glenfiddich Champion 2015, completed the cast. Jolly good show! |
